488 PC, 182 PC- Petty Theft, Conspiracy
LOCATION:  30800 block of Road 144-Visalia          DATE:  10-19-10          TIME:  1727
CASE NUMBER:  10-13152&54         VICTIM:  Olson and Pratt Farms          CITY:  Visalia

    On the above date and time Tulare County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the above location for an in progress report of subjects stealing walnuts.  Upon deputies arrival they discovered that seven male juveniles had been loading two vehicles with walnuts from the surrounding area. 

    Sheriff’s detectives later arrived on scene and interviewed the juvenile suspects.  All but one juvenile confessed to stealing the walnuts.  The suspects were later transported to the Tulare County Probation Juvenile Detention Facility where they were booked on the above listed charges.

    All of the walnuts that were stolen were recovered and returned to the victim.

UPDATE: Dinuba Area Homicide
LOCATION:  4100 block of Ave 400, Dinuba          DATE:  10-17-10          TIME:  2203
CASE NUMBER:  10-13080         VICTIM:  Jose Lopez, age 61 of Dinuba / Alejandro Saldana, age 24 of Dinuba          CITY:  Dinuba

UPDATED INFORMATION:

The suspect in this case has been identified as Denny Lee Pinion, age 36.  He is listed as transient, originally from Tennessee. The autopsy revealed the cause of death to be stab wounds to the body.

 

On the night of the incident, Pinion atteneded a barbeque at Lopez' residence. At about 10:00 pm, Pinion confronted Lopez and demanded money and property. When Lopez refused, Pinion stabbed Lopez. Saldana came out of his room, broke the two apart and tried to call 911. Pinion stabbed Saldana. Both Lopez and Saldana struggled with Pinion as they were fighting over the phone. Lopez received multiple stab wounds to the hands, and upper body area during the struggle with Pinion. Pinion also received multiple stab wounds to his upper body during the struggle and died of his injuries at the scene.

PRIOR RELEASE:On 10/18/10, 2203 hours, Deputies from the Orosi Substation were dispatched to a 911 regarding an assault with a knife that was in progress at a residence in the 4100 block of Avenue 400 near Dinuba. Deputies arrived and found three subjects suffering from stab wounds. A male subject was deceased at the scene. A second subject, a 62 year old male suffering from stab wounds was airlifted to an area hospital and is currently in stable condition. A third subject, a 24 year old male suffering from stab wounds was transported by ambulance to an area hospital. He was treated and has been released.

On 10/18/10 at 1000 hrs. detectives of the Sheriff’s Tactical Enforcement Personnel (S.T.E.P.) Team responded to the 800 block of Myer Rd. Near Exeter for a routine compliance check of a medical marijuana grow. Upon arrival detectives contacted the above listed (8) suspects. During the course of the investigation it was determined that (7) of the suspects had been hired by Suspect Cristobal Garibay to assist with cultivation and processing of the marijuana for sale.

California law allows medical recommend holders or their primary caregivers to cultivate marijuana within the limits of their doctor issued recommendation. It does not allow the hiring of persons to grow marijuana for individuals. The sale of marijuana is not allowed under any circumstances. It has become common for suspects to utilize the loopholes in the California Compassionate Use act to hide behind and facilitate criminal cultivation and sales of marijuana. All suspects except Garibay had Immigration holds placed

    On 10/18/10 Officers from the Farmersville Police Department were investigating an incident of terrorist threats and brandishing a firearm. The suspect later identified as Victor Hugo Pardo 32 yrs of Woodlake, was contacted and arrested by the Farmersville Police Department, during an incident to arrest Pardo was found to be in possession of one (1) pound of processed marijuana and 1.8 grams of methamphetamine.
    Investigators from the I.N.E.T. Narcotics team were called to assist in the investigation. Investigators served a search warrant at the Pardo residence. An  illegal marijuana cultivation operation was located at the residence along with the five (5) listed subjects who were taken into custody without incident. Ten (10) pounds of processed marijuana were located at the residence.

During the week of October 10th through October 16th 2010, personnel from the North End Gang Violence Suppression Unit conducted suppression patrol in the North County communities of Cutler, Orosi, Goshen, Ivanhoe, Woodlake, Sultana, Seville, Traver and New London. Detectives made numerous traffic stops, contacted several subjects, including those suspected of participating in gang activity and completed 22 Field Identifications. Eight subjects were arrested and booked into the Main Jail or Bob Wiley Detention Facility for the following crimes;

1. Fernando Rodriguez (56 years) Possession and under the influence of a controlled substance.

2. Nicholas Lowe (19 years) Under the influence of a controlled substance.

3. Brittany Souza (24 years) Providing false information to a peace officer and for being in possession of a syringe.

4. Noe Leon Arciga (24 years) Arrest warrant for driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

5. Luis Ramirez (25 years) Arrest warrant for violation of a court order.

6. Alex Manzo (19 years) Violation of Court Order - Gang Injunction.

7. Eric Zamora (20 years) Violation of Court Order - Gang Injunction.

8. Jami Tenbrook (20 years) Driving while under the influence of alcohol / drugs and unlicensed to operate a vehicle.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon
LOCATION:  37600 block of Road 60 New London, Ca.          DATE:  10-16-10          TIME:  2300 hrs

On 10-16-10 at about 11:00 p.m., a subject identified as Willie Lee Watters (35 years) was believed to be on the roadway in the 37600 block of Road 60 in New London. During that time, one or more unknown suspects assaulted Watters with a deadly weapon by stabbing him and then they fled the scene. Watters also left the scene and was admitted into an undisclosed hospital with non-life threatening injuries. It is believed at this time that the crime was gang related, and this case remains under investigation.

On 10/16/10, Deputies responded to the 9800 Block Rd 240 in Terra Bella in regards to an assault victim. Upon arrival Deputies located the victim who was suffering from a gun shot wound to his lower torso. The victim was transported to a local area hospital where he remains in stable condition.

Violent Crime Detectives responded to the area and conducted the investigation. It was later determined a known suspects had shot the victim after a dispute. The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.

On the above date and time Tulare County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the above location for a report of a robbery that had just occurred. Upon deputies arrival they discovered that the victim had been threatened, kidnaped, falsely imprisoned, and robbed for an undetermined amount of money.

Sheriff’s Detectives later arrived on scene and assisting personnel located the suspect and placed him into custody. The suspect was later transported to the Tulare County Main Jail where he was booked on the above listed charges.

Visalia Court House Evacuation

UPDATE: The Visalia courthouse has been re-opened.  Special thanks to the Farmersville Police Department for their assistance with their K-9 unit.  Detectives are investigating the initial call to the courthouse regarding the bomb threat.  Anyone with information is encouraged to call 800-808-0488.

Home Invasion Robbery
LOCATION:  33100 block of road 158, Ivanhoe          DATE:  10-13-2010          TIME:  0615 hrs

On 10-13-10 at 0637 hrs, the Tulare County Sheriff's Offices was called to a home at the 33100 block of Road 158 in Ivanhoe regarding a home invasion robbery that had just occured.  Upon investigation it was learned that two hispanic male adults armed with unknown type handguns entered the occupied residence demanding money.  Items taken include money, phone, firearm and approximately 30 marijuana plants.  The two subjects fled the scene in a truck and no victim injuries were reported.

Narrative:

On 10/11/10, deputies responded to the Ivanhoe area regarding an assault. On arrival, the victim advised deputies that he had been stabbed by unknown subjects. Detectives responded and conducted the investigation. The suspect and the weapon are outstanding.  

***Update***

On 10/12/10, Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit and North End Investigation were able to identify, Danny Lane of Woodlake, as the suspect responsible in the stabbing of an Ivanhoe Man.

With the assistance of the Kings County Sheriff’s Office, Lane was found at a home in Armona. The suspect was taking into custody without incident and transported to Tulare County where he was booked at the Main Jail for Attempted Murder. . .
