Cultivation of Marijuana - Possession for Sale
LOCATION: 36500 block of Road 197, Woodlake DATE: 06-14-12 TIME: 1030 hrs
CASE NUMBER: 12-7453 VICTIM: Stae of CA CITY: Woodlake
On 6/14/12 at 0700 hrs. Detectives from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department S.T.E.P. Unit responded to the above listed location for the service of a marijuana search warrant. Detectives became aware of the scene after Patrol Officers were sent to the location on an unrelated case.
Upon arrival no subjects were at the residence, however detectives found that several sheds and out buildings had been converted into a large indoor marijuana grow operation. The buildings had been heavily fortified. The operation was very sophisticated utilizing hydroponics, air conditioners, CO2 generator’s and grow lights on timers. Detectives found a multi stage operation with various rooms set-up for all stages of the life cycle from fully budded down to new clones. 690 live marijuana plants were located within the various grow rooms. The plant cycles were setup in such a way as to allow harvesting of approx.. 100 plants on a monthly basis. On this type of Indoor grow each plant would yield approx. ½ pound of processed marijuana from each of the 100 plants. High potency marijuana of the types being grown in this operation would have a street value in excess of $4,000 per pound
Further investigation found that the suspects had by-passed the electrical meter and were stealing power to run the lighting and environmental systems. It was estimated by Edison employees that a grow operation this extensive would use in excess of $75,000 in power per year. Additional charges are pending for the theft of electricity that had been stolen through this operation.
No medical marijuana cards were located at the scene. Suspects are outstanding. Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Det. Holguin at the S.T.E.P. unit at 800-808-0488.
